Ingredients to make the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies:
To make the perfect cookies you need to carefully select all the ingredients that contribute to flavor, texture, and overall deliciousness. Let’s talk about the key ingredients you’ll need for these cookies, and also about their roles in the recipe.
All Purpose Flour:
The main ingredient here is the all-purpose flour that provides the structure and texture to your cookies. It is very crucial to use the accurate amount of flour, as using too much flour can make them dense and dry.
Butter:
Adds the richness and moisture in cookies, thus it is very important to get that desired flavor and texture. If you use cold butter, you will get denser cookies, while softened butter yields a lighter texture.
Sugars:
Use a combination of granulated sugar and brown sugar, where granulated sugar helps the cookies spread, while brown sugar adds moisture and a chewy texture.
Eggs:
It is important to use eggs in cookie dough to hold it together and add moisture. Some recipes require one whole egg and an extra egg yolk to make them softer and chewier. The extra fat from the yolk also adds a delicious taste.
Baking Soda and Baking Powder:
To help cookies rise and spread, it is very crucial to use the right amount and ratio of these leavening agents. Make sure to use fresh baking powder and baking soda.
Salt:
Though used in a small amount, it is essential in cookie recipes to balance the sweetness and bring out the richness in flavor. It actually enhances the flavors of the other ingredients.
Vanilla Extract:
A must have ingredient for any chocolate chip cookie recipes, is it enhance the overall flavor profile of your cookies. For the best taste it is recommended to use pure vanilla extract.

How to make Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie!
We have talked about the key ingredients needed to make these delicious cookies, the exact measurements can be found in the recipe card down below. Let’s now get into the step by step instructions on how to make this delicious recipe.
Preheat the Oven:
To make sure that the cookies bake evenly start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking tray with parchment paper so that cookies don’t stick to the base of your baking tray and also to ensure easy cleaning.
Dry Ingredients:
Next step is to mix all of the dry ingredients. In a large bowl, add all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and whisk together. Keep it aside and let’s prepare the wet ingredients.
Mix Butter and Sugars:
In a large mixing bowl add butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat them together at a medium speed until the mixture is creamy and well combined. Make sure the butter is cold to achieve that perfect chewy texture.
Eggs and Vanilla:
Once the butter and sugar mixture is all well combined, add eggs one by one and continue beating. Now add vanilla extract and combine all the ingredients by beating at a medium speed.
Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients:
Start adding the dry ingredients gradually to the wet ingredients mixture, while mixing on low speed until just combined. Don’t over beat, as this can lead to tough cookies.
Fold in Chocolate and Walnuts:
Gently fold in the chocolate chips (I am using Chocolate chunks in today’s recipe) and walnuts to the batter by making sure that the chocolate and nuts are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Tip: Refrigerate your dough for at least 30 minutes to get the chewy and tender cookies.
Scoop the Dough:
On the prepared baking tray start dropping round balls of dough by using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon. As the cookies will spread as they bake, always keep about 2-3 inches of space between each cookie.
Bake:
Now place the baking tray with cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still slightly soft. Cookies continue to cook a bit after you take them out of the oven!
Cool Down:
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes. This allows them to set before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Finish with Sea Salt:
This is an optional step for an extra touch of flavor. Sprinkle a little sea salt on top of the warm cookies before they cool completely. This enhances the sweetness and adds a delightful contrast.
Perfect Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies:
For thicker and chewy cookies, chill the dough for 20-30 minutes before baking to help prevent excessive spreading. If you don’t like walnuts, feel free to skip them entirely for a nut-free version or substitute them with pecans any other nuts of your liking. For storing them use air tight container and store at room temperature for up to a week.
If you want to bake them later, scoop the dough onto a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Then transfer the frozen dough balls to a freezer bag. When you’re ready to bake, you can bake them straight from the freezer, adding a minute or two to the baking time.
With a perfect chewy texture and rich flavor, they are sure to become a family favorite. The best thing about these Cookies is the versatility as you can easily customize the recipe according to your liking and taste.
