Ingredients For Tres Leches;

List of ingredients for Tres Leches milk
  • ½ Lbs. fresh or frozen strawberries

  • ½ Cup Sweetened Condense Milk

  • ½ Cup Heavy Cream

  • 1 cup Evaporated Milk

  • ½ Cup Whole Milk

For The Cake;

Ingredients for Strawberry Tres Leches Cake
  • 1 Cup all-purpose Flour

  • 1 Cup Sugar

  • 1 Tsp. Baking Powder

  • 5 Large Eggs (white and yolks separated)

  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract

For The Topping;

Ingredients for Strawberry Tres Leches Cake Topping
  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream

  • ½ Cup Sugar

  • ½ Lb. Strawberries (diced)

  • Few Drops of Strawberry Essence

Instructions For the Strawberry Tres Leches:

I start my recipe by making strawberry milk.

  • Add strawberries in a bowl and make puree with the help of a hand blender. You can add sugar as well but I don’t personally prefer adding sugar here because when we add condense milk it will be sweet enough.

  • Now add condense milk, evaporated milk, cream and regular milk in strawberry puree and blend until smooth mixture is formed. Strain the tres leches once to get a smoother mixture.

  • You can add cream at the end to prevent the mixture from getting too thick.

  • Refrigerate for at least an hour or until needed.

For the Cake:

  • If you are using box of strawberry cake mix, just prepare and bake according to the package instructions in a preheated oven.

  • To make it from scratch, first preheat the oven at 350°F (175°C). Grease the 9*13 inches casserole.

  • Then Separate egg whites form yolks. Beat the egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks form.

  • Then add egg yolks and beat until you get a pale yellow mixture.

  • In a separate bowl mix dry ingredients together and now add them in egg mixture by gradually folding the flour.

  • Pour the batter into the cake pan or casserole and bake for about 30 minutes, until golden brown, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.  

  • When the cake comes out of the oven, allow it to cool and then poke it with a chopstick or a fork.

  • Now pour the strawberry tres leches on top of the cake and put it in the fridge so that the cake soaks up the milk.

For the best result it is recommended to refrigerate it overnight so that the strawberry milk soaks into the cake completely.

For The Topping:

  • To make cake topping, whip together cream and icing sugar. Add a few drops of strawberry essence and mix.

  • After leches being fully absorbed and the cake is all soaked up, top it with whipped cream.

  • Finally add sliced strawberries on the top to garnish.

  • Slice and serve the Strawberry Tres Leches Cake cold.

Notes:

  • I prefer to prepare this dessert a day in advance because this cake tastes much better the next day as the flavors are blended together well.

  • You can use variety of other berries as well like blueberries, or raspberries for a twist.

  • To enhance the strawberry flavor, you can drizzle strawberry syrup on the top.

  • You can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This will make the cake moister.
