Ingredients

  • 2 Lbs. Beef Striploin Steak (4 Striploin Steaks)
  • 100 Grams Butter (For Searing and Basting the Steak)
  • To Taste Salt
  • To Taste Black Pepper (Freshly Ground)
  • 1 Tbsp. Garlic Paste and 1 Unpeeled Whole Garlic (Freshly Minced)
  • 1 Tsp. Soya Sauce
  • 1 Tsp. Vinegar
  • 2-3 Larger Potatoes (For Mashed Potatoes)
  • 1 Tsp. BBQ Sauce (For Brushing)

Instructions

Preparation:

  • Select a high quality Beef Striploin Steak Cut that is less than an inch thick.
  • Allow the steak to come to room temperature for approximately 30 minutes before cooking, as this ensures even cooking throughout.
  • Once the steak is at room temperature, pat it dry with paper towels to promote a good sear.

Prepare the Marinade:

  • In a large bowl add steak, a teaspoon of minced garlic, salt, black pepper to taste, a teaspoon of vinegar and soya sauce each.
  • Mix all the ingredients and rub on both the sides of steak so that all the ingredients are blended and infused well in the steak.

Heat the Skillet:

  • Use a heavy skillet, preferably cast iron, and heat it over medium-high heat for about 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Skillet should be very hot as it should be smoking slightly that indicates it is ready for searing.
  • Add enough amount of butter to the skillet and coat the bottom of the skillet.

Pan-Sear the Seasoned Steak:

  • Now place the marinated steak into the hot skillet carefully, laying it away from you to prevent splatter. Do not move the steak for about 5 to 6 minutes to help form nice crust.
  • Cut the head of a whole garlic and add in the skillet on the side of steak. The essence and aroma of garlic create delicious base for basting the steak.
  • After 4-5 minutes, flip the steak using tongs.
  • Add a little more butter and let it melt completely. You can also add fresh herbs at this point. As the butter melts, tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the melted butter over the top of the steak. This adds flavor and moisture.
  • Cook the steak until desired doneness.

How to Cook Mashed Potatoes:

  • Begin by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into even chunks or wedges to ensure uniform cooking.
  • Place the potato chunks in a pot of cold, salted water, bring the water to a gentle boil and cook until the potatoes are tender, which usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
  • Once cooked, drain the potatoes well and return them to the pot to eliminate excess moisture. Now mash the boiled or steamed potatoes with the help of a potato masher.
  • Next, add butter in a pan. When butter is melted, add mashed potatoes and mix well. For extra creaminess add half a cup of milk and 2 table spoons of creamSeason with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve:

  • Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the stove, loosely cover it with foil and let it rest for about 5-10 minutes.
  • Serve the mashed potatoes warm alongside your perfectly cooked beef striploin steak for a harmonious meal.
  • For additional twist of flavor, brush BBQ Sauce over steak and mashed potatoes.
  • Enjoy your delicious Beef Striploin Steak with Mashed Potatoes.
